The suburb of Brabham was created in May 2011. It is named in honour of Sir Jack Brabham, an Australian motor racing legend. It is bordered by Park Street in the north, Murray Street in the east, Harrow Street in the south and Lord Street in the west. It is part of the Urban Growth Corridor. It was formally part of the suburb of Henley Brook. Brabham also includes the Caversham Motor Racing Circuit reserve where Sir Jack Brabham raced in the early days of his motor racing career. The airfield was constructed by the US military to be used as a base for bomber aircraft during the later stages of World War II. Following the war, the strip was no longer required for aircraft and so it was converted into a racing track, hosting the Australian Grand Prix twice: once in 1957 and once in 1962. In 1969, all WA circuit racing was moved to the newly opened Wanneroo Park Raceway and so the federal government developed the facility into a radio communications hub/
