In 1831, the name \”Baskerville\” was given to an estate owned by wealthy Perth landowner William Tanner. Baskerville was split in the early 1900s and was utilized in the 1920s for the army settlers project. Upper Swan Memorial Hall and Recreation Ground first opened in 1923, and it was restored in 1955. It was renovated to honor those who died in World Wars I and II, as well as the Boer and Korean Wars. Baskerville is a short strip of land that begins on a bend in the Swan River and is about 800 m north-south by 7.5 km east-west, with Haddrill Road running through the center. To the east of the neighbourhood, there is a small tract of native woodland accessible via Joshua Mews. The suburb has no clearly defined residential zones. A hall, pavilion, and oval are located on Memorial Avenue, a fuel station is located on Great Northern Highway, and several of the small family-run vineyards on Memorial Avenue and Haddrill Road, including an organic winery, provide cellar door tastings.
